So far, over 140 people from 24 countries will be attending, and everything seems to be on track for a great conference and dinner.

There are a few new announcements:

Monday evening, 7th April: we are planning an informal pre-Conference get-together in  The Old Spring,  a popular Cambridge pub with good food. If you are in town, please come along from 6pm onwards. We have marked the location on this map.
Speakers please bring your memory sticks.

Tuesday 8th April: conference registration will start at 08:30 ready for the sessions starting at 09:30. Speakers please bring your memory sticks.

Tuesday 8th April: There will be an organised 20 minute walk from the conference to the Cambridge Swift Tower at the end of Tuesday's sessions. For those who wish to visit the Tower in their own time, it is also marked on the same map

Wednesday 9th April: In addition to the main programme, in the afternoon there will be a parallel workshop organised by the RSPB for architects, planners and people in the building trade. There may be some places available on this workshop for conference attendees. Please let us know if you would like to attend this - there is no additional charge for conference attendees. Outline details are at the bottom of the program.

Wednesday 9th April: conference dinner: pre-dinner drinks will be served from 7:0pm. The location of Gonville & Caius College is shown on the map. Please let us know of any dietary requirements.

WIFI will be available in the Conference Hall.

Car parking: There is limited parking at the school; cars may be left overnight at the owners risk, but the gates shut at 18:00. Availability is on a first come first serve basis. Car owners will be required to leave details of their vehicle (number plate, colour and make) at the registration desk in the school. Access to the school is shown on the second map here.

Dietary Requirements: for both the lunches at the school and for the conference dinner, please let us know of any special requirements.

  1. The subject of international conferences is a controversial issue. In depth analysis of international conferences can be an enriching experience. Given that its influence pervades our society, there are just not enough blues songs written about international conferences. Crossing many cultural barriers it still draws remarks such as 'I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole' and 'I’d rather eat wasps' from those politically minded individuals living in the past, who are yet to grow accustomed to its discombobulating nature.
